someday

someday
I'll know where to find all the things I "put away" and can't find
more organized

someday
I'll stop worrying about things that I have no control over
less worried

someday
I'll be 100% planned for school
more prepared

someday
I'll get up every morning for a whole week without being tired
less exhausted

someday
I'll look back at my concerns and they won't be concerns at all
someday.

come soon someday. . . .

is a little competitive

I should be working on report cards, but I was looking on pinterest (for report card ideas of course) and saw this.

It needed to be posted this very minute.

I think next time I am on a "date" with Eric and we go to Walmart, it is going to be with this gameboard in hand.
(I can't decide if Eugene or Orem would be a better location for this game. . . . sad to say I would probably guess Orem)

Winner gets a Target gift card.

I will win.. . . . . .and to think that I just told his sister last night that I wasn't competitive.
I guess I lied.

might be having a crisis

I had a day off on Friday and since I never found a reasonably priced ticket to Eugene I decided to stay home and just get stuff done this weekend.

True to form, my day off consisted of "sleeping in" until 7:25. . . and then feeling like I wasted my whole morning....after I realized I still had a fully day ahead of me I cleaned, ran a couple of errands and then hopped on my bike to take a long bike ride.  I had no plans of where to go.  Just that I was going.

Being back on bike felt so great.  The heavy gusts of wind, however, did not feel so great.  Regardless I rode out by the lake to Lehi.  I know you are all waiting for the crisis part of my story.  Patience, this is where it comes into play.

So, the route I took on my ride takes you by the animal shelter.....cue dramatic music and crisis alert.

I have never really been a huge pet fan.

I did have a bird (or 2 or 12 if you count all the ones that probably died and were mysteriously replaced by my mom) when I was little, but that was about the extent of MY very own pet owning experience.

I like other people's dogs.  (never like their cats, or mice or rats or reptiles but I do like their dogs)

I don't want one of my own.

or
so I thought.

As I rode by the animal shelter on my windy, blow you off your bike ride this thought came into my mind:

"Maybe I should adopt a dog from the animal shelter!"

WHAT!!?  (I'm pretty sure I said it outloud with the emphasis of 2 exclamation marks)

When? EVER? has this idea crossed my mind, let alone been vocalized and then thought about for the next 40 miles of pedaling?

Something must be wrong with me.
(remember when I killed the fish in my classroom.....all of them. . . . . or i freaked out having to buy live crickets for the toads in my classroom. . . . . ya, see what I am saying?!)

Maybe I'm lonely.
Maybe I'm crazy.
Maybe I'm having a crisis.
Maybe I'm thinking about getting a pet.
Maybe I just need something/someone to take care of and I should borrow my neighbors children or my nephews more often.
Maybe I have thought about a cute little dog over and over again the past few days.

I think it is definitely a crisis.

Oh, and I didn't actually blow off my bike. That wasn't the crisis, just in case you were confused.
(the fact that I have gained like 5 pounds that stopped me from blowing off my bike could be a crisis, but that is an entirely different issue than wanting a pet and deserves its own post and will not be talked about again)

keeps stuff

I keep stuff.

Like. . . . .

my red wooden car that my mom tole painted for me with my name as the license plate.
and
my baby blessing dress (which is pink -- talk to  my mom about that) and my baptism dress
and
letters and notes that I wrote to my dad as a child. He returned them to me (aka: he was going to throw them away and I knew that someday he would want to be reminded how tendr and nis I thought he was so I kept them so I can give them back to him when he is more sentimental and less dejunking)
and
a pillow I made when I was 6 or 7 of a hippopotamus.  I had a hippo obsession for a while.  Good thing I'm over that phase.
and
old race bibs.  all of them.  even the ones that probably should be destroyed because of miserable experiences, but I keep them.
 and
notes my students write me.
and
pictures they draw
and
the first porcelain doll that I ever saved my money up to buy.  She is not cute, but I paid like a years worth of allowance for her (like $12) and she was my pride and joy.
and
these weird gnome looking ceramic things that were in my room when I was a baby
and
my personal progress book from when I was in yw.
and

this really great blue silk nightgown that I slept in as a child.  My mom gave it to me and I felt like a princess.  It was lined with this 2 inch lace and we had to pin it in the back so that it was actually modest instead of having a plunging neck line.  It was super sexy.  Still is.  Yep, still have it.  Sometimes I wonder why I keep it, but every time I go to throw it away I just can't.  I don't wear it very often.  Maybe I should re-purpose it into some lingerie for my sister who is getting married. She would love that.

Exhibit A: Nightgown today: This would make some really great lingerie right!?

exhibit b:  me as a child wearing the nightgown (Kristin looks jealous, I think the lingerie making idea is a must)
See weird gnome things. . . I can't bring myself to throw them away.

Porcelain doll (I wonder if she had a name!?)

baby blessing dress and baptism dress (I think the pink obsession started young)
Iron on art at its very best.

Maybe now that I have pictures of some of these items that will give me the courage I need to toss them.  They can live on digitally. . . . What do you keep around that really should just be thrown away?

will never understand

There are a few things in life that I don't think I will ever be able to understand!

First and foremost:
the line of at least 11 cars every morning at the McDonalds drive through that I witness as I am on my way to work.  7 am people.  What in the world are people thinking?  Really, you need to start your day off with somewhere between 400-1090 calories and 25-50 grams of fat.  (I looked up the nutrition guide friends. . . and it made me want to throw-up) This doesn't even include the huge diet coke they are getting.  Nothing like drinking your calories at 7 am.  Sick.

Second:
Rude people  There is no way to describe these people other than rude.  Really, if you have a problem talk to me about it.  Don't ignore me, stomp away, roll your eyes, glare at me, give me the silent treatment or passive agressively argue with everything anyone who comes your way says.  Oh, and for the record, this person is an adult.  Immature and Rude.

Third:
Airlines  I'm kind of in a fight with the airlines right now.  Skyhigh prices (no pun intended) are not acceptable.  What is acceptable is any donations you would like to send my way so that I can actually finagle a trip to Oregon one more time this spring.  My travel budget is quickly approaching the in the red status.....and if for some odd reason you don't want to pay for me to fly to Eugene, maybe you could just start praying that prices aren't so high.  Something has go to do the trick right.  Expensive.

Fourth:
The dust that appears in a fine layer on every surface in my home only miliseconds after I am finished cleaning.  I've tried everything. Believe me.  No luck.  Constantly dusty.  There is no need to remind me that I basically live on the freeway which is a constant construction/dust zone.  I'm sure that has something to do with it.

Fifth:
How my sewing projects seem to multiply faster than I can finish them.  I haven't even started anything new and it seems like no matter how much I "get done" there is always something unfinished.  Story of my life.  But the dress I just finished (never-mind that I started it last spring) is darn cute.  Think pink and green and stripes and patterns.  See, it sounds cute right?! That's because it is.  If you are lucky maybe you will see me wearing it everyday someday.

Sixth:
The amount of laundry that one person can have.  ONE person lives in this house.  ONE person who wears ONE outfit (sometimes 2 or 3) a day.  Out. of. control.  I kind of like laundry and have a love affair with ironing, so this I'm not complaining.  I'm just saying.  There is a lot of laundry happening here at my home of ONE. Crazy.

I am sure that there are more things. . . . but one thing I do understand is that I can't stay up late at night and expect to be a nice teacher in the morning.  So, I'm done with this post.
