Is LOOKING for New Recipes

Do you ever get to the point where you are tired of ALL of the food that you make!?
I am past that point.
Kind of a big deal for me, since any of you who know me know that I am not really an "eater" Don't get me wrong, I eat, I am just not really a food connoisseur. I eat out of necessity, not pleasure. In fact it is probably kind of weird that I don't really love food yet I love to make it. I love trying new recipes and baking (remember my joy about getting a Bosch Mixer/food processor/blender -- yep, love it)
I guess I eat because I have to have energy to fuel my exercise habits.

SO . . . .
the point of this post is to say that I am tired of all of my staple food choices. I need some good ideas on what to make for dinner(s)

What are some of your favorite recipes?
preferably healthy
preferably ingredients that are not hard to find
also keep in mind
I am cooking for 1
&
I am not a "red meat lover"
other than that pretty open
doesn't necessarily have to be fast or easy

not picky
just selective

Send me ideas!

feels a little lost. . .

Meetings at school start today. I don't belong to "a school" anymore-- well, I mean I guess I belong to BYU now, but that is different. I feel a little bit lost. Weird as it sounds I kind of wish I was sitting in the library at Art City Elementary with all of my faculty friends passing notes to Shoni and Robin while listening to the "bodily fluids" presentation by the school nurse-- and hearing about everyone's summer -- and wondering why a few ornery teachers still never smile or have anything nice to say to anyone -- and acting bugged when Dave once again says we can't wear jeans to work, but secretly knowing that I have lots of great non-jean outfits that I am just dying to wear -- and seeing what second grade teachers my kids from last year have this year -- and having my own new class list to wonder over -- and on and on!

It is just kind of an odd feeling to know that in a few days kids will be filling classrooms, and one of them won't be mine. I am still excited about my new assignment/job working at BYU and with the students who are training to be teachers. I guess that you can know you have done the right thing and be sad all at once.

I kind of feel like I just had a "mutual break-up" with someone I was dating. Like the kind where you both know it isn't going to work, but you are still sad. Like I "broke-up" with my job?! Weird.

Feeling a little lost.

needs this shirt

Seriously. . . . . it comes in pink too.
Ever since Ann Taylor went out of business at the riverwoods I have been distraught and had to turn my attentions to Banana Republic. I think that this shirt is worth a trip to Fashion Place Mall. Plus I have a 40% off coupon -- or if I wanted two they are buy one get one 50% off. They have lots of cute shirts right now. Good thing tomorrow is Saturday (oh wait everyday is Saturday for me) I am making a trip just as soon as I finish my run.

Might get to run the St. George marathon

You heard me. Remember my post in April about how sad I was that I didn't get picked by the lottery to run St. George. Tonight some of my sorrow vanished. There is hope on the horizon. There is a hill in Veyo just waiting for me to sprint up. There is a finishers medal with my name on it. There is a clock just waiting to usher me in with a sub 4 hour marathon time. I know it. Lets just hope that the race organizers feel the same way, and let me transfer someone else's registration to my name.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE.

I have people to run with in St. George and a qualifying time just shouting my name on really great course. I might be able to convince my family to come support me/visit family. October has always been my lucky month. I NEED to run a marathon in October.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE.

Fingers crossed.
Prayers offered.
Hopeful.

26.2 miles in St. George I love you.

Is not ashamed to be just a little bit obsessive compulsive

I know. . . . I know. . . it isn't any big surprise to any of you. However, i thought it was time to just admit it and move on. Being OCD has it's up side too.

For instance:

My dishes always match which is much more aesthetically pleasing and then I have more friends who want to come eat with me.

Whenever I remove a piece of clothing from the closet it is pre-ironed (like it should be) and I don't have to waste precious morning time ironing it.

The cupboard doors are always closed when not "in use" (as in, the cupboard door is only open if your hand is currently taking something from the cupboard or drawer). In this instance it stops dirt and unruly bugs from getting in to your cupboards while you are unaware.

Washing my hands 20 times a day led to just a little bit of dry skin. Hard water had to go. Now I have soft water and it is better for not only my skin but my pipes. It really was a home investment as much as a cure to my dry skin.

Closets organized by color and bins labeled with appropriate typed out labels make it much easier to locate items in a jiffy. . . once again, saving time.

Really being obsessive compulsive is like a blessing. Look at all the extra time I am buying myself, not to mention helping the environment and just all together the world be a better place. Aren't you grateful?

I am.

rides her bike for "fun"

You know when you are little and getting a bike is probably the most monumental thing that has ever happened to you? That feeling. . . . freedom. Finally you can cruise up and down the street with your friends. No worries in the world and lots of places to explore. Now it only takes 3 minutes to speed as fast as you can around those corners to your friends house on the next block. Empowering for sure. My first bike was red. . . sparkles on the red banana seat, streamers coming from the handlebars and a white basket on the front to store all of my important stuff in. I know you are jealous. Loved the bike. It took me places.

Back then I rode my bike for fun.
It didn't cost money.
It made my mom happy to have all the kids out of the house.
It was good exercise. . . plus little kids just look cute riding their bikes.

I still ride my bike for fun.
I pay people large amounts of money to do it.
It doesn't always make my mom happy.
It is still good exercise
(like loose 8 pounds in one day exercise -- don't worry it will come back)

I don't look cute doing it. One word - Spandex.
Yet, I still ride my bike for fun.

On Saturday I did a century ride. The Tour de Park City. I knew what I was getting myself into because Mike and I had gone and driven the "hard" part of the route so that I would know what to expect. Still didn't expect it. By far the hardest century I have ever ridden. Lots of climbing and head-wind for the last 30 miles of the ride made for some challenging times.

Totally worth it.

It took me 6 hours and 38 minutes. I averaged just over 15 miles per hour, so I felt pretty good about it.

I wish I had taken pictures, but didn't have my camera. The scenery was beautiful which made the ride a lot more enjoyable. If you are going to ride over a hundred miles you might as well like what you are looking at and where you are going.

Mike rode the 170 route - He is AMAZING - so it was fun to just hang out after the ride waiting for him to finish and watch all the cyclist come in.

It is nice to know that I am not the only person who still rides my bike for fun!
