Thinks Chicken Nuggets for Dinner are Divine

Seriously, I had one of the best meals I have had in a long time this weekend.

Chicken Nuggets.
(not dino-bytes, these were the real thing)

Chicken nuggets can be served on real, matching dishes and children can still ask to be excused from the table when they are done with their meal.
I watched it unfold and it was truly delightful.

It is true that only moms can make those kind of foods and feel okay about it.
Fantastic, amazing mothers with 4 kids under the age of 6.
Only a husband who loves his wife (who is 5.5 months pregnant) with 4 kids under the age of 6 will eat chicken nuggets for dinner and then compliment the meal and tell his wife how great dinner was while they clear the table and get things cleaned up.
It happened in real life and I was there to witness it.

I guess in all honesty it wasn't so much the chicken nuggets a much as the company that really made this one course meal so fantastic.
I've decided that I would eat chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese, go-gurts and maybe even corn dogs (shocking I know) every night if it meant that I had the company that went with those foods.

Somehow stir-fry, edamame and brown rice don't actually taste all that great no matter how fantastic the recipe is when you are sitting alone at your table eating. I truly would rather be passing the ketchup to a sticky fingered 3 year old or sopping up spilled milk that the 1 1/2 year old has tipped on their high chair tray than unfolding my napkin, staring across the table at an empty spot and calling on myself for prayer yet another night in a row.

Single life can sometimes feel empty -- not just because there are no chicken nuggets.
Empty because single is, exactly what it implies -- one.

Well, this "one" girl has been lucky to not always feel that emptiness and Sunday was one of those days where silent prayers were answered once again and loneliness wasn't part of the equation.

Thanks to my ward members over the past year who have helped me to see that "one" is okay and single doesn't have to mean alone. You have invited me into your homes and lives and my gratitude for you could never be fully expressed.

Mostly, thanks to the Johnson family who have taken me in and made me feel like I truly belong in a "family" ward.
There is nothing better than hearing a child shout from the front rows of the chapel "I love you Amber Osaler" and then jump into your arms before you can even sit down.

I may not come to church with cheerios and a diaper bag, but I am glad that they can see straight through the put together person that shows up in a pencil skirt, dry clean only sweater from ann taylor and stilettos.

They realize that cheerios, quiet books, and chicken nuggets for Sunday dinner are more than okay with me. In fact sometimes I dream about having that kind of a life, but until my dreams come true I'll just take a little piece of it on Sundays when I can get it.

I'll bet they love having you over more than you know as well! On Sunday, my girls begged one of our dear (single) friends to come over (right then) for dinner! She was a great sport as the girls made her a phoenetic nametag, went outside and returned with a "magic wand" to put on her plate and gave her the spork to use as a sign of honor. I was apologizing for the meal, but she seemed to get a kick out of them. Your post makes me think maybe she wasn't just being nice. I have to say, I loved having her there to talk to, it was such a treat for me. If you come, I'll make you nuggets - promise! (Are you sick of my not so subtle hints yet?)

Amber, such a cute blog! I'm so glad you stopped by my blog to say hello! I was really touched by this post. Life is full of trials and sometimes you get one that is visible to the whole world. And it sucks. My life does include chicken nuggets for dinner on Sundays, but my husband doesn't come to church with me beforehand and that can be kinda hard when the whole world is looking on. I can totally relate to not having your life be exactly how you pictured it. Chin up! You are handling a difficult trial with real grace. You are a very special part of our lives and have influenced many a sticky fingered chicken nugget eating munchkin in very profound ways. Thanks for sharing!

Amber, you're my inspiration every Sunday when I see you sitting with them. What a blessing you are. I kinda wish there were more of you to go around! (I could use an Amber in my row...;) hehehe!)

I'm so happy you found and commented on my blog. I LOVE comments! Great post. I could use some chicken nuggets in my life.

To answer your questions...I'm running St George and NYC. Are you still running Utah Valley?
